Dave Gold, CIH CSP
Dave Gold has over forty years of experience in the environmental health and safety (“EHS”) field. Dave has a BS from California State University, Northridge and a MS from the University of Southern California, both in the EHS field. Dave is also a Certified Industrial Hygienist, a Certified Safety Professional, and a State of California Certified Lead Based Paint Inspector/Assessor/Project Designer.
Dave has extensive experience in developing and implementing safety programs at all sizes of companies, from Fortune 100 employers to small businesses. He is an exceptionally experienced industrial hygienist and has conducted sampling for thousands of times for air contaminants and workplace noise. He has also provided Cal-OSHA compliance audits for many employers to improve their safety programs, and helped companies deal with Cal-OSHA citations, reducing fines and/or getting them completely vacated.
Dave also has extensive experience conducting literally thousands of mold investigations and indoor air quality investigations within buildings of most every type, both commercial and residential. His clients have included homeowners, tenants, landlords, property managers, realtors, insurers, school districts, government agencies, health care facilities, attorneys, the entertainment industry, Fortune 500 firms….you name it.
Dave has provided expert witness testimony in mold and toxic exposure issues within Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Riverside, and Santa Barbara counties. He’s also testified at the Worker’s Compensation Board of Appeals in employee toxic exposure claims cases.
Dave was an assistant professor at CSUN between 1991 and 1994, has taught extension classes at UCLA and USC, and has been a guest speaker for numerous civic groups, professional groups, and Universities. Dave is active in several professional associations, and has served on the Board of Directors of local chapters of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, American Society of Safety Professionals, and the Indoor Air Quality Association.
Dave has appeared on television and radio several times on the news, and as an expert witness on reality court TV shows. Most recently, Dave appeared on local news about the wildfire cleanup for residences that did not burn down.
In his spare time, Dave is the founder of Bicycle Angels, a non-profit organization that supports cyclists to raise money for charities. He also plays the saxophone and performs with amateur community music groups in the South Bay region.
James Bateman, CSST, CMI
Industrial Hygienist
James has worked for Gold Health and Safety Consulting since November 2018.
James has a BS from California State University, Long Beach, in Biology. He is a Certified Site Surveillance Technician (licensed asbestos sampling tech) and is working towards his Certified Asbestos Consultant and Certified Industrial Hygienist designations. James is also a Certified Mold Inspector and also licensed by the State of California as a Lead Based Paint sampler.
In his spare time, James enjoys skiing, surfing, and spending time with family and his doggie, Heisenburg.
Eliana Rubio
Office Manager
Eliana Rubio is the Office Manager at Gold Health and Safety Consulting, where she helps coordinate our services across Southern California. With a background in healthcare and hospital administration, she brings strong organizational and people skills to the team.
Outside of work, Eliana and her partner, Daniel, enjoy supporting their three teenagers in sports and spending time with their pets, Ava, Brookes, and Coco.
Manny Velazquez, CSMI
Industrial Hygiene Technician
Manuel (Manny) graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a bachelor’s in public health and a concentration in Environmental Health & Safety, Go Titans! His passion for safety first began in the kitchen, where he learned the importance of simple actions like handwashing to protect loved ones from getting sick. This early awareness grew into a broader understanding that we are constantly surrounded by factors that can impact our health and well-being.
Manny has since dedicated himself to protecting communities and promoting safe environments. During the aftermath of the Eaton and Palisades wildfires, he worked tirelessly to help residents return home safely by testing for contaminants such as VOCs, lead, asbestos, and other hazardous substances.
Committed to continuous growth, Manny aims to further his education and certifications to strengthen his expertise and continue educating communities in need. He is a Council-certified Structural Mold Investigator and is also licensed by the State of California as a Lead-Based Paint Sampler.
Outside of work, Manny enjoys immersing himself in video games, exploring new foods, listening to EDM, and spending time with his cats.
Ruben Triscareno, CSMI
Industrial Hygiene Technician
Ruben earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from the University of California, Irvine, and is both a Council-certified Structural Mold Investigator (CSMI) and a Certified Lead Sampling Technician. He plays a key role in conducting environmental sampling and ensuring high-quality field data collection for Gold Health and Safety Consulting’s projects.

The South Bay Music Association supports music education for kids and adults in Los Angeles’ south bay region. It also runs several performing music ensembles, such as the El Segundo Concert Band, Beach Cities Swing Band, and the Segundo Saxes sax quartet.
