Secondary Wildfire Smoke Damage Assessment

Since 2010, Gold Health and Safety has conducted numerous assessments for damage from wildfires, indoors and outdoors.

Our clients have included homeowners, insurance companies, property management firms, building owners, attorneys, and public adjusters. We follow the AIHA guidelines for secondary wildfire smoke damage assessment.

Post-Wildfire Indoor Assessments

During a wildfire, buildings that were not destroyed often get contaminated with combustion products and other toxins that blow in.  Often, insurance companies will cover decontamination of a residence that has been demonstrably affected by secondary wildfire smoke.

GHSC’s wildfire services includes investigating for contamination and providing a report of findings, with a Scope of Work for remediation when needed. Investigations often include sampling to prove contamination, both to gain insurance coverage, and to assure that the environment is safe for re-occupancy.

All assessment and sampling is conducted under the direction of an ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist.  All samples are analyzed by independent, AIHA certified laboratories.

Post-Fire Soil Metals Testing

We provide soil testing for heavy metals contamination (Title 22 Metals and Mercury) to meet California requirements for clearance prior to rebuilding or property reuse. We use appropriately certified labs and perform this work at a reasonable, fixed labor rate in order to provide this service at an economical price for those that have suffered from wildfire losses.
